Legnoresina® is a revolutionary protection/resin developed by Salis in order to provide the wood flooring with never experienced before features of durability, reliability and performance.

IT’S NEITHER OIL NOR VARNISH,

IT’S THE REVOLUTION OF WOODFLOORING FINISHES.

ENVIRONMENT IS WHAT OUR FUTURE IS ALL ABOUT
Conosciamo la materia legno da oltre 90 anni, We have been experiencing wood for more than 90 years and we have always kept the environment into great consideration. With Legnoresina® we are completing a loop over a hundred years old but only for opening a new course consisting of technology, reliability, innovation, sustainability and passion.
LEGNORESINA®_4-LAYERS TECHNOLOGY FINISH
The two starting layers of the system Legnoresina® consist of pure resin at 98%, coloured pigments, pearls of corundum and fire-retardant components. These two layers represent the main backbone of the whole innovation: they in fact constitute the structural barrier for the highest resistance toward daily foot traffic and wear. The third layer is made of pure resin at 98% and fire-retardants , while the fourth one replicates the same structure with a further addition of silver ions particles, the core asset of the antibacterial finish. The third and fourth layer of Legnoresina® play a dual role: on one side they act as the front sentinels whose job is to first stand against the daily wear, on the other hand they prevent liquids penetration and avoid unwanted stains. Within the fourth layer silver ions are also added as the core asset of the antibacterial finish. Legnoresina® is a ground-breaking however complex system, reasoning by layers each of which performs a specific task: the combination of the four represents the main difference standing between yesterday’s and tomorrow’s finishes.

WELLBEING AND NATURE

Voc_less Salis is the company’s commitment in keeping the V.O.C level well beyond the limits allowed by the law, meaning an improved environmental wholesomeness and safeguard thanks to wooden floors only built with certified raw material in accordance to the laws in force.

Legnoresina® refuses to compromise: it does not release formaldehyde and it does not contain pentachlorophenol, two compounds potentially harmful for liver, kidney, blood, lung, central nervous system, immune system and gastrointestinal tract.

These compounds once end-of-life become seriously polluting sources for the entire planet if released into the environment, reason why it is imperative to avoid its use from the very beginning of the developing stage.

LEGNORESINA®_ARTISAN TECHNOLOGY

Legnoresina® is a mix of finest resins, natural raw material and corundum providing a structural adhesion with the wood and conferring it extraordinary technical and performance features.

IT RESISTS MORE

LEGNORESINA® RESISTS MORE THAN A “STANDARD PROTECTION*” THANKS TO THE RESIN MICROFILM AND ALSO BECAUSE OF THE CONTAINED PARTICLES OF CORUNDUM.

* The data was obtained through comparative laboratory tests performed on Legnoresina® and our other finishes.

The corundum is an aluminium oxide , a mineral belonging to the group of Hematite, known for its technical-mechanical properties and for its extreme hardness. The corundum is normally employed in many production fields: from brushing paper to grinders and sharpeners and is a main component in the production process of porcelain tiles.

WE HAVE ADDED PEARLS OF CORUNDUM WITHIN THE RESIN IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE RESISTANCE TO WEAR.

HIGHER RESISTANCE TO WEAR

The main component of Legnoresina® 4-layers technology is pure resin at 98%, a thicker ingredient so better performing in terms of wear resistance, the use of which involved the construction and the implementation of new machinery permitting to dry in a really short time a mixture definitely less processable than a classic oil or varnish finish.
The whole system’s developing and setting process involved about 20 people and lasted about 14 months: engineers, chemists, researchers and experts have collaborated for developing a ground-breaking system able to improve the experience of living the wood flooring inside the house.
Legnoresina®: an important achievement reached thank to the abilities, expertise, talent and know-how of Salis team’s women and men. Today, thanks to that big effort, we can finally say that bathrooms, kitchens, commercial spaces, malls and high foot traffic environments won’t be scary anymore.
DOES IT GET SCRATCHED? IT CAN BE REPAIRED

Thanks to a smart Repair Kit, Legnoresina® finish not only is more resistant to wear, but also in case of accidental events such as scratches or minor daily damage, it is possible to repair the injured area in a few minutes with a very simple “do-it-yourself ” tool.

Kit Repair is not a “standard” felt-tip pen: in fact it contains the very same resin and colour pigments of Legnoresina® finish.

KIT REPAIR, NO MORE SCRATCHES

KIT WOOD MAINTENAINCE

Legnoresina® has been designed for the easiest cleaning. The pure resin in fact confers the surface a “silk touch” effect, silky to the touch and extremely easy to maintain over time. Kit Wood, Salis special maintenance program specifically designed for finishes such as Legnoresina®, includes both ordinary and extraordinary maintenance products. The use is as simple as effective: the ordinary cleaning product guarantees a deep cleaning and nourishing of the surface at the same time; the extraordinary maintenance product , on the other hand, makes sure to reset the micro-scratches and the loss of brilliance that could occur over time.

ANTIBACTERIAL FINISH

We’re inspired by imagining a new world where always more sustainable materials are produced, these will represent an actual benefit for our planet, a new “renaissance age” looking for the reduction of bacterial contamination making the surfaces safer to live.

We rely on a new innovative treatment performed through the release of silver ions acting as biocide on the overall surface, avoiding the breathing the bacteria and the consequent reproduction of the same.

BACTERIA DON’T LAST LONG

THANKS TO THE SPECIAL CHARGES OF SILVER IONS THE WOODEN SURFACES FINISHED WITH LEGNORESINA® PERFORM AN ANTIBACTERIAL ACTION, REDUCING THE BACTERIAL LOAD OF 99.9%.

WHAT ARE SILVER IONS?

Silver ions: a practice thousands of years old. Before discovering the antibiotics a valuable mineral was employed for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties: the ionic silver. Silver’s antimicrobial features are known from the ancient times, back in 3000 B.C. the Egyptians used it for securing the water in tanks in order to prevent diseases due to infected water. In the second half of 800 the antibacterial properties of silver were scientifically proved with the researches of the Swiss scientist Karl Wilhelm von Nägeli.

Karl Wilhelm Von Nägeli, the researcher who scientifically demonstrated the antibacterial properties of Silver.

Centuries later silver ions treatment has returned at the centre of attention representing a practice for many products, particularly in the pharmaceutical field, in dermatology in the first place.

But not limited to that: today antibacterial shoes and soles are produced, but also packaging, acoustic panels, furniture, paintings and the majority of surfaces in general.

The ionic silver is not the only method to make a surface or a material antibacterial, but it is for sure the one with the lowest environmental impact assuring an extended action overtime.

Silver ions in fact are natural materials and they don’t pollute, they don’t impact on the planet as often happens with other systems; the antibacterial action is furthermore guaranteed over time because once activated the ions keep their features forever unaltered.

BIOCIDE ACTION
Let’s see how the biocide action works. When a microorganism gets in contact with the wooden surface protected with Legnoresina®  the silver ions become active and reduce the bacteria charge to zero entering their cellular membrane and attacking their DNA thus preventing their reproduction by stifling their breathing. How the sanitizing action of Legnoresina® works_watch the video
The silver ions contained within Legnoresina® therefore cause a net reduction of bacterial contamination in a short time, ensuring an immediate sanitizing action, in private and also in public environments.

HOW LEGNORESINA® WORKS

The woods finished with Legnoresina® are therefore the best surfaces to play, live and relax.

PARQUET AND STAINS

Inside the house there are many liquids that can accidentally fall, and in the common thinking wood flooring can be irreparably stained. We have been working for years on the production of always better performing wood floors  for a constantly changing public, but it’s through the  introduction of Legnoresina® that we have been able to create a highly performing product in terms of resistance to stains.

Legnoresina®, consisting of 4 layers of latest generation resins, is able to increase the resistance to the penetration of liquids thanks above all to the density and consistency of the resin itself  interposing  a valid barrier to protect the wood, porous by its nature .

Salis periodically subjects its products to very strict tests, through specific checks  for securing the quality of its wood flooring when it comes to resistance against stains. The employed liquids for the tests are: distilled water, detergent with neutral pH, acetone, ethanol (diluted 50%), red wine, red wine vinegar, olive oil, milk, coffee, tea, ammonia (in water solution at 10%), black ink.

After a few hours in contact with Legnoresina® finished wood flooring, the results are very good, even in case of very corrosive liquids, such as ammonia diluted to 10% (which simulates the pee of your dog or cat, for example), or with ink or red wine, known for staining the surface very easily.

Thanks to Legnoresina® technology, the wood flooring today can be considered as any other surface, designed to last a lifetime. **

** However, it is worth remembering that it is essential to regularly maintain the wood floor with specific products and not with generic ones. In fact, many of the problems usually related to stains today can also be solved with a good maintenance program through very simple ordinary and extraordinary interventions, helping in keeping the beauty of the wood flooring for a lifetime.
HEATING
There are many benefits in using wood in construction. Among the prominent factors, if not the most important is wood’s inherent insulating power. In fact, a wood floor is a “warm surface” and this obviously involves a series of additional values that are not obtained using a “cold” floor.
The addition of pure resin to floors finished Legnoresina® increases as well its insulating power, as it is also a “warm” material. The result therefore translates into a greater well-being within the home and consequently in savings in power consumption.
To better understand this value, we performed some as simple as effective tests in our Research and Development laboratory, carried out through empirical system. On one side, we have selected a porcelain stoneware 60×60 cm tile 10 mm thick (previously glued to a concrete substrate with a suitable adhesive). On the other, we glued a wood floor of the “Armonico” collection finished with Legnoresina® to a concrete support. The temperature of the two different surfaces ( with the same environmental features of temperature and moisture, respectively 21 ° C and 45%) after 12 hours of operation was found to be 20 ° C for wood, 14 ° C for stoneware. The difference is really significant:  6 ° C difference translates into greater insulation, meaning greater energy savings.
LEGNORESINA® AND FIRE RESISTANCE

One of the things we often think about when dealing with wood flooring is that in the event of a fire this can be a facilitating vehicle in flames spreading.

In fact, wood is a decidedly combustible material, it has warmed us since the Stone Age and in the common imagination it is one of its main features.

Thanks to innovations such as Legnoresina®, however, we can look at it from a slightly broader perspective.

Legnoresina® is certified in class Cfl-S1 pertaining to wood flooring surfaces included in Class 1 in terms of reaction to fire. This certification is in conformity with UNI EN 13501-1 regulation.

This aspect is extremely relevant when selecting a wooden floor, for example destined to public places, where the risk of fire is very high:  such as hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and places where social life takes place.

In fact, thanks to the precious raw materials of contained within Legnoresina® in case of flame propagation, the wood floor will not release toxic substances into the air, representing  the prominent real cause of death during a fire: breathing these substances in fact causes the loss of consciousness, giving way to the flames to do the rest. In this process it is very important the addition of special “retardants” inside Legnoresina®, particles whose task is limiting the propagation of the flame, giving the time to be able to clear the involved area during a more extended period of time.
